School Admissions

Pittington Primary School has an admissions limit of 30 pupils per year group from Reception to Year 6.

Starting School

If you have a child who will be 4 on or between 1 September 2024 and 31 August 2025 you need to complete an application for a school place so that your child can start school in September 2025. You can apply online at Durham County Council School Admissions.

You will also be able to access a copy of the guide for parents: Primary And Secondary School Admission Guide  which will contain essential information that will help you in making your application. If you cannot access the Council’s website please contact the School Admissions Team, using the details below, and you will be sent a copy of the guide for parents and an application form. The deadline for applications is midnight 15th January 2025.

For our Year 6 pupils, the Secondary school places application deadline is Thursday 31st October 2024. 

Nursery

The nursery unit, an integral part of the school currently provides places for 26 children. 

2 year olds

Eligible working parents of 2-year-olds are now able to access 15 hours childcare provision. 

3 and 4 year olds 

Eligible working parents of 3- and 4-year-olds are also able to access 30 hours of government-funded childcare.

Children's names can be added to the waiting list any time after their first birthday.

Any parent/carer who is considering Pittington Primary School as a possible place for their child is warmly invited to visit school. Contact should be made with the Headteacher so that a mutually convenient appointment can be made for a visit.

As from September 2024/25 we can admit 30 children into Reception.

Other Admissions

All other admissions are arranged by the Local Authority. You are welcome to visit the school but you will need to apply through The Admissions Team at County Hall on 0191 383 3000.
