School Dinners

At Pittington Primary School we operate a pre-ordered system, where the children choose their meals in advance so they should know exactly what they are getting each day. The menu available to choose from runs on a three week cycle where children choose one of three options for their main meal. If your child does not like what is available, they are more than welcome to have packed lunches instead. Alternatively we give the option of mixed meals, ie. a mix of packed lunches and meals each week. If this option is taken the meal pattern must be the same each week eg. packed lunch Monday to Thursday and school meal on Friday, for the three week cycle.

The menu is usually set in the September by Chartwells and stays the same for the school year. The desserts will change to fit the seasons but the main courses will stay the same. With this in mind, children are allowed to change their menu choices on a half termly basis but the school office MUST be informed in advance of any changes. Changes must be submitted in writing at least two weeks before the end of each half term.

Currently, the government pay for the meals of all children in reception class, year 1 and year 2, while pupils in year 3 onwards are charged £2.50 daily. All payments are to be made on Parent Pay and must be cleared regularly so the balance is zero at the beginning of each half term.
